North Carolina Wireless Offers WildBlue
High Speed Internet Service Via Satellite in Hickory Area.

Hickory, NC—North Carolina Wireless today announced it will offer WildBlue satellite Internet service, providing affordable high-speed Internet connections to homes and small businesses in the Hickory Area.
North Carolina Wireless will be offering WildBlue’s fast, reliable Internet access in three service packages to consumers and small businesses: Value Pack - $49.95 per month for download speeds up to 512 kbps and upload speeds up to 128 kbps; Select Pack - $69.95 per month for download speeds up to 1.0 Mbps and upload speeds up to 200 kbps; and Pro Pack - $79.95 per month for download speeds up to 1.5 Mbps and upload speeds up to 256 kbps. All packages include Internet Service Provider (ISP) services such as e-mail and Web space, the WildBlue Portal (featuring the latest news, information and entertainment), 24 hours per day customer care, and an equipment warranty. North Carolina Wireless will initially offer its equipment package for $299.00 and professional installation for $179.95.

An always-on broadband Internet connection, WildBlue’s service will offer access speeds that are comparable to DSL and cable modem services. WildBlue's two-way wireless service provides high-speed data in both directions, upstream and downstream. Customers will not need an additional phone or cable line or the expense of a traditional dial-up ISP in order to receive broadband Internet access.
“We are very pleased to bring to the Hickory Area full Internet access options that are comparable to those available in urban areas,” continued Shillito. “WildBlue is the first satellite service to offer Internet options comparable to other high-speed providers, yet available where they are not, and providing a competitive package that other satellite Internet services will be hard pressed to match.”
