New Customer / Potential Customer
Q: Does NCW Internet service require a phone line or cable connection?
A: No, NCW provides your Internet connectivity using state of the art wireless technology. There is no need for cable or telephone service for our connection.
Q: I already have a router that I used on a previous service will it work with NCW LightLeap Internet service?
A: In most cases yes. If you have a relatively new router it should work with our High Speed Internet customer premise equipment (CPE). From our equipment we connect to your existing network with a RJ-45/standard network connection using CAT-5 cable. The setup and configuration is included with all NCW LightLeap installations.
Q: How reliable is the service?
A: We feel that our LightLeap Internet service is the most reliable choice for businesses and home offices. Your speed and connectivity is not subject to rain or fog issues and we see greater reliability because your connection doesn’t come from us using lines and telephone poles. There are the fewest possible failure points in the delivery of service to your home or business.
Q: Can I use VoIP (telephone) service over my NCW connection?
A: In most cases yes. Our technicians can advise you as to which providers work best on our network (Packet8, Lingo & etc). Most customers who have a solid connection to our network can use VoIP phone service. Ask us for a demo.
Q: What do you install at my location? What does it look like?
A: All installations include a professional installation by a contractor of NCW. A typical installation takes between 2 and 4 hours. Depending on the signal availability at your home the installation will require installing a small radio and antenna at the roof line level of your home. In many cases this equipment is un-noticeable. You may view installation examples here.
Q: What if I have a technical problem after the installation?
A: NCW has a group of highly trained staff available to you via telephone. Feel free to call our office if you have any technical problems and we will do our best to address your needs. 828-322-1505
Q: I am not in your current coverage area but I would be interested in having service extended to my area, how do I do that?
A: NCW often looks into new areas to provide connectivity. Typically we need a number of homes or business to sign a petition requesting service in a new community. If you want to start that process please fill out our information form and note that you would be interested to have service added to your area.
Q: What type of speeds can I expect?
A: Depending on your location, interference levels and signal strength speeds will vary. Typically they are quite stable and predictable. Depending on your relativity to our tower sites and the technology we have to use to provide service to you your speeds can vary from 2028 – 512kbit. All of our technologies are capable of providing as much upload speed as download speed.
Q: Can I connect multiple computers up to my NCW connection?
A: Yes, you can connect as many computers to your connection as you would like. However, sharing your connection with neighbors or anyone that isn’t within your business or household is prohibited.
Q: Can I move about my home or office with my laptop and use a wireless LAN?
A: By using a wireless router you can benefit from WiFi within your home or office. This technology will allow you to move about your home or business without being physically connected via a wire or network cable.
